Wolverhampton gas main upgrade due to be completed
Work to upgrade an ageing Wolverhampton gas main is expected to come to an end today.
Gas network Cadent has been replacing 1.5 km of iron gas pipes in Worcester Street, as part of a £65 million investment in the West Midlands.
The project's first phase was due to finish earlier this month after being initially extended but a collapsed culvert set the team back again.
Road closures in Salop Street and Cleveland Street were expected to be lifted today, before the second phase of works starts.
Engineers do not think the culvert collapse is related to works to replace the 19th century gas main and it is now being repaired.
