Elderly man injured when car smashes into brick wall
An elderly man has been taken to hospital after crashing his car into a street light and a brick wall.
The incident happened on The Parkway, Perton at around 2pm today. Just one vehicle was involved.
All three emergency services attended the scene.
An air ambulance was also dispatched, and the crew assisted the man.
However, his injuries did not require him to be airlifted to hospital.
Instead he was driven to hospital by an ambulance crew.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance said: "We were called at 2.09pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car that collided with a lamp post and a wall.
"One patient was treated, an elderly man with suspected arm injuries.
"He has been taken to hospital for further treatment via land ambulance."
The ambulance crew left the scene at 3.18pm.
Staffordshire Fire Service confirmed two crews from Wolverhampton cordoned off the area to owing to safety concerns because of exposed wires from the street light, which fell down.
The Police were also in attendance awaiting the arrival of the Highways Agency.
