People across Wolverhampton are also being encouraged to come along and celebrate the festive season.

Charity groups Outreach 4 Wolverhampton and Helping Hearts are hosting the party on Saturday, December 23.

The party will be held at the Soup Kitchen based at Darlington Street Methodist Church based in the city centre, and all those who are homeless are invited to attend from 7pm.

The event will offer hot food and drink to the homeless people, along with festive gifts.

The charitable groups are also asking members of the public to donate what they can to help make the party a special occasion for all those who attend.

People are asked to donate items such as Christmas crackers, gift bags, wrapping paper, sweets and chocolate.

Sleeping bags and other equipment will also be welcomed.

Anyone interested in donating can drop off their goods at the donation points in Bushbury and in Willenhall.

Posting about the party on Facebook, Sarah Bell said: “On Saturday December 23, Outreach 4 Wolverhampton and Helping Hearts are putting on a Christmas party for our homeless friends in the Wolverhampton area.

“We do have most things but want to make it that little bit special for all our friends.

“If anyone can help us please with any of the items it will be very appreciated.”

Organiser Zara Sands, of Helping Hearts, said: “Anything that people could donate will really make a difference to people who are homeless. We are providing a hot meal for them too.

“We have received food donations from people and businesses including Tescos and Middletons which we are extremely grateful for.

“We think anything between 30 to 50 people will attend. We will also be providing support to those in hostels too, we won’t turn anyone away.”
