Air ambulance called after pedestrian hit by lorry outside Hollybush Garden Centre in Shareshill
A man was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a lorry near the Hollybush Garden Centre in Shareshill.
The incident happened at 10.45am today.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the casualty, a man in his 50s, suffered multiple injuries and was immediately given pain relief and oxygen.
An ambulance, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill attended the scene together with a MERIT trauma doctor and the Cosford air ambulance crew who responded by car.
A WMAS spokeswoman said: "The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, had sustained a number of injuries in the collision with the lorry. The ambulance staff and doctor quickly set to work to administer pain relief and oxygen to the man so that they could further treat and assess his injuries. The man was fully immobilised with a neck collar, spinal board and pelvic splint before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further trauma care.”
