The footballer made a very public plea, as he took to Twitter to post a message about missing his boys.

The celebrity couple split in 2014 amid allegations he had been unfaithful, while it was reported earlier this year O'Hara had been stopped from seeing his children.

The midfielder, who now plays for non-league Billericay Town and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother this year, said he did not want to go through a custody battle.

The pair have three children together: Archie, six, Harry, five, and George, three.

Posting on Twitter, where he has more than 62,000 followers, he wrote: "@MissDLloyd can you please let me see my boys, why are you doing this to them? I don't want to go back to court.

"Just a dad who wants to see his children - try and deal with this on a daily basis and see how it feels. I don't have a bottomless pit of money."

People responded to O'Hara asking why he had gone public to which he responded: "She won't reply or answer. I haven't seen my kids for a month. I have a court order to see them, I don't want sympathy I want my kids."

The former couple lived together at their Sutton Coldfield home when O'Hara played for Wolves between 2011 and 2014.
