"They were bringing tray after tray of Jägerbombs out... Laurie was just standing there at the bar with his card."

Wolves' executive chairman Jeff Shi is probably used to fine dining in the world's most prestigious restaurants.

But ahead of Wolves' last fixture he showed he also likes a trip to a local boozer and is not shy of mixing with the club's loyal fanbase.

Those supporters who made the 270-mile round trip to Brentford's Griffin Park were left stunned after Shi and Managing Director Laurie Dalrymple rocked up at one of the pubs near the ground - with Dalrymple even offering to get the drinks in.

Dalrymple announced the pair's arrival, posting a 'selfie' on Twitter with the message: "Taking this man [Shi] for a pint. Happy to extend that offer to any away fans at today's game as a well earned thank you. Here for 30 mins....."

The tweet by Laurie Dalrymple which announced the pair's arrival.

The pair were pictured standing inside and outside The Griffin pub, famous for having featured in football hooligan film Green Street.

Among the fans lucky enough to grab a chat with Shi was 19-year-old Callum Gubbins.

Shi spent several minutes talking to the group before buying them a round of Jägerbombs.

Callum, who is a South Bank season ticket holder, said: "We were sitting outside the pub just having a talk when I have seen Jeff Shi out of the corner of my eye.

"I said to the lads 'is that Jeff Shi?' It was and we asked him for a a picture and he was generally a really nice bloke.

"He was just saying that he thanked us for travelling to watch the team and for just supporting the club.

"We asked him about his ambitions and he said he wants to take the club far. We asked him about any more transfers before the deadlines but unfortunately we didn't get much out of him on that."

In all there were scores of fans who met Shi and posted pictures of him on social media.

Richard Sadler, 49 and a South Bank season ticket holder, was at the game with his two sons.

He said: "Jeff and Laurie were just brilliant. Can you imagine what it was like in there, they were being pulled all over the place. They stayed in there probably 30 or 40 minutes.

"I have never seen anything like it and I have been going to the matches since I was five.

"It was absolutely brilliant. There were Brentford fans in there but there was no problems whatsoever.

"They were bringing tray after tray of Jägerbombs out. It was a lot of drinks. Laurie was just standing there at the bar with his card."

Another supporter who was pleased to see the pair in The Griffin was 24-year-old Sven Bullock, another South Bank season ticket holder.

He said: "It was like nothing I have seen before. Since Fosun bought us out it has been a breath of fresh air.

"I don't think Laurie Dalrymple gets the respect he deserves. Jeff seemed like quite a shy guy but that is understandable when there must have been 500 lairy Wolves fans in there. Having said that he was happy to talk.

"A lot of people were asking them if we were going to get a new striker before the transfer deadline but understandably they were quite tight-lipped.

"It really was a one-off event and I am glad I was there."

The match against Brentford, which ended in a 0-0 draw, was not the first time Shi has been spotted in the pub before a game.

Ahead of Wolves' game with Wigan at the beginning of the 2016 season, Shi was again seen in a bar and stopped to have pictures with fans.
