WATCH: Angry driver confronts 'jobsworth' traffic warden in viral video

A parking warden slapped a driver with a fine because his car wasn't 'in a proper bay' – even though it can be seen parked within two white lines.

The attendant was confronted by furious motorist Tom Moore in a council car park in Wolverhampton.

Despite footage showing his car between the two lines, the warden told Mr Moore he was not parked in a bay.

The incident occurred in the Snow Hill car park, close to the Wulfrun Centre.

A council spokesman said Mr Moore had parked in a bay which was painted over in December and was no longer a valid space.

The spokesman said the behaviour the warden was subjected to was 'aggressive, abusive and unacceptable'.

Mr Moore, who had bought a ticket for his vehicle, filmed the confrontation, and can be heard saying: "Apparently this isn't a bay. These lines aren't there. Yet this woman think it's OK."

His camera is then pushed away by the warden, who tells him: "You're still getting a ticket."

As the footage continues, Mr Moore insists he has every right to film the warden in public, before describing her as a '******* jobsworth'.

Another driver approaches Mr Moore and seems gobsmacked he is being given a ticket – asking: "How's that not a bay?"

The warden walks off, saying: "I'm going to sue you."

Wolverhampton council issued this image with, circled in red, the bays which were removed last year. The authority says this area now forms part of the 'roadway' around the car park

Mr Moore posted the footage to Facebook with the caption: "I've just had a parking ticket even though I paid.

"Can you share to show how Wolverhampton council treats [its] customers. Thankyou."

The video has been shared thousands of times online, with many posters on social media supporting Mr Moore's plight.

Wolverhampton council issued this picture showing cones which were put down to prevent people from parking in these bays

A Wolverhampton council spokesman said: “The traffic enforcement officer involved in this incident was subjected to aggressive and abusive behaviour which was unacceptable and cannot be condoned.

"If someone wants to disagree with a decision regarding a penalty charge notice, there is an official process through which to do so.

"They can challenge the decision in writing or online at wolverhampton.gov.uk/parking.

"The parking bays at Snow Hill car park were repainted prior to opening in December 2016.

"A number of former bays were taken up at the same time to improve traffic flow around the car park, and 'no parking' cones were put down to prevent people from parking where the old bays used to be."
