In the results of the FE Choices Learner Satisfaction Survey, released on July 13, the college is rated highest in the Midlands region and in the top 10 per cent of further education providers nationally.

The organisation received a score of 90.1 per cent for student satisfaction – against the top score of 94.6 per cent – ranking it 13th out of 184 further education providers across the country.

Kirk Hookham, vice principal for curriculum and quality, said: “For students to give us such positive feedback – leading to us being ranked first in the Midlands and in the top 10 per cent of further education providers in the country – is yet another fantastic achievement for the college.

“It proves how focusing everything we do on the high quality of teaching, and continually adapting to ensure students develop skills that will impress employers and lead to great future careers, really does reap rewards – and the fact that the results are from the students themselves shows that they have a great experience whilst at college and highly value the opportunities that it provides.”

The Learner Satisfaction Survey captures learners’ experiences of their college or training organisation across England.

Among schemes run at the college is a new football academy to help train the next generation of sporting talent and which kicked off at City of Wolverhampton College last month.

Wolves and Wolverhampton College Academy, which is being run at the college’s Wellington Road campus in partnership with Wolves Community Trust, aims to help youngsters considering a career in the coaching industry make their first steps in to the sector.

The Wolves Community Trust endorsed course will see students have access to the Wolves training ground at Compton Park, with lessons delivered by a Wolves Community Trust UEFA B qualified coach.

They will pick up a Level 3 Diploma in sport while gaining skills in sports coaching, fitness training and sports psychology, picking up FA badges and competing in a national football league. The college is due to move buildings by 2019 from its outdated Paget Road site.
