A 1908 FA Cup final winner's medal presented to the then Wolves captain has sold at auction for £8,000.

The 15 carat gold medal handed to Billy Wooldridge following Wolves' 3-1 victory over Newcastle United went under the hammer in London yesterday.

It had been estimated to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000.

The victory was the club's second in the FA Cup and came 46 years before Wolves were first crowned First Division champions.
