Wolverhampton Crown Court closed over water supply cut
Wolverhampton Crown Court has had to be closed after issues with its water supply.
The court, which is based in Pipers Row in the city, was closed unexpectedly all day today following work over the weekend.
The closure took place after Severn Trent Water were unable to provide water to the court after working over the weekend.
It is understood that the works are taking place as part of the Midland Metro extension.
The £15 million new line along Pipers Row and Railway Drive – linking Wolverhampton St George's stop with the railway station – is currently on its way to being installed.
Part of the programme of engineering work started with the relocating and protection of underground gas, water and electric supply pipes and cables in Pipers Row.
Once the utilities work is complete, construction on the extension can begin.
It is hoped that the Crown Court will be open as normal on Tuesday.
No one from the court was available to comment on the closure.
