Residents are angry after a second deadline is breached on an enforcement notice to demolish a house built without planning permission in Sandringham Avenue, Willenhall

A man was ordered to bulldoze a partially-built four-bedroom home on Sandringham Avenue in Willenhall, which the council says it hadn't given planning permission for.

The homeowner was granted permission to build a side extension by Walsall Council but was handed an enforcement notice in 2022 demanding the demolition of the building after the council found he had instead erected an entirely new and much larger property.

Now the council has warned that it could step in to "enter the land to carry out the works and recover costs" if the owner continues to ignore enforcement notices.

Neighbours have spoken to the Express & Star about their concerns, saying that the building is an "eyesore" and a "constant issue" for the road's inhabitants.

Resident Cliff Stevenson, who lives next to the building, said it was causing "consistent issues"

Cliff Stevenson, a resident of Arundel Road, directly adjacent to the house, said: "It's been a constant issue. They have put the wooden wall up now, which has created a blind corner on the bend here. We haven't had any incidents yet, but it's terrible.
