Man trapped against kerb by rolling car outside Aldi supermarket

A car rolled trapping a man against a kerb outside an Aldi supermarket.

The man was trapped by a car outside Aldi, in Willenhall

The Midland Air Ambulance was called to the store in Willenhall this lunchtime to help the injured man.

Paramedics and firefighters were called to the Aldi, in Coppice Farm Way, Willenhall, just before 12.30pm today.

The man was found to be trapped between the kerb and the side of his car.

He was helped by the team of 10 firefighters who managed to free him using air bags to move the car.

West Midlands Ambulance Service staff treated him for his injuries.

He was then taken via road to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton after the air ambulance was stood down.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Aldi, Coppice Farm Way, Willenhall at 12.30pm today following reports a man was trapped under a car on the car park.

"We believe the elderly man became trapped by his own car when trying to reverse from a tight space.

"He was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening or life changing."
