Demolition of former Darlaston Town ground is welcomed
A councillor has welcomed work starting to demolish a derelict former football ground in Darlaston.
Paul Bott has long called for the City Ground – the former home of Darlaston Town – to be demolished after a series of vandal attacks and fires. The club has not played there since moving to Bentley around 10 years ago.
Work finally started on Thursday to demolish the former clubhouse at the ground, off the junction of Slater Street and Waverley Road.
