Walsall housing bid for 50 homes on green belt set to fail due to controversial ‘Cannock Chase tax’
A bid to build more than 50 new homes on green belt land in Brownhills is set to fail due to the controversial Cannock Chase tax.
Silverbrick Ltd has put forward an outline application to create 55 new homes, as well as public open space, on land off Northfields Way, Clayhanger.
But officers are recommending members of Walsall Council’s planning committee reject the scheme citing a number of reasons.
These include the site falling within the 15km zone for the Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and the developer providing no mitigation to help protect the beauty spot.
Other reasons include a lack of special circumstances being put forward to justify developing in the green belt and the potential impact on traffic and trees on the site.
