Girl, 8, stabbed to death in Brownhills
An eight-year-old girl has been stabbed to death at a home in Brownhills.
Police were called to Valley View at around 9.15pm last night where the girl was found with serious stab injuries.
She was rushed to hospital but tragically died a short time later.
In what is believed to be a domestic incident, a 54-year-old man was found at the address with a stab wound to his stomach and was arrested.
He is currently stable in hospital and is expected to be questioned by detectives from West Midlands Police later today.
Floral tributes left at the scene refer to the young girl as Mylee.
One reads: "To Mylee, stay safe with the angels."
Neighbours today described the girl as 'lovely' with one saying: "The girl was just lovely with lovely long blonde hair."
Another neighbour, 74-year-old Graham Greatrex, said: "We heard the commotion and the mother was standing outside our house. I went to talk to her and she said they stabbed my baby.
"She was hysterical. People were racing around everywhere."

David Taylor, who lives opposite the house, added: “All I heard last night was car doors banging, so I looked out and saw a load of flashing lights from police cars and ambulances. I thought there might have been a gas leak but then as no one came over I went back inside into the warm.
“Now I know what’s happened it’s very upsetting. I have a granddaughter who’s eight and it made me think of her. It’s not nice.”
Brownhills councillor Ken Ferguson said: "It's absolutely devastating news. I'm shell shocked to be honest. It's horrendous, I still can't take it in.
"We had an incident in Brownhills West last year when someone drove into an ambulance and you think something horrific like that is a one off.
"Someone so young has had their life taken away, I can't comprehend it."
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force's homicide unit, said his team was not looking for anyone else connected with the girl's stabbing.
He added: “Our family liaison team are supporting the family of the little girl, who are naturally devastated by her death. Our thoughts remain with them."
Chief Inspector Gareth Morris, who attended the scene of the stabbing last night, said on social media: "The death of a child is so hard hitting and my thoughts and those of the officers are with the family and friends."
