Man rescued from house fire in Bloxwich

A man had to be rescued from a house fire in the Black Country today.

Firefighters led the man to safety following the blaze in Nursery Road, Bloxwich, Walsall.

He was given oxygen by fire crews but did not require hospital treatment.

The first crew arrived on the scene in less than one minute and 20 seconds, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Crews from Bloxwich and Walsall fire stations attended the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.52am to reports of a fire on Nursery Road, one ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who after assessment was discharged at the scene."
