Woman taken to hospital after car overturns in Bloxwich

A woman was taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof in a dramatic smash in the Black Country.

Firefighters were called to help free the woman after the crash near Bloxwich Police Station today.

An orange Renault ended up on its roof following the heavy smash with a grey Suzuki at the junction of Elmore Green Road and Station Street just after noon.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital, while another driver was checked over at the scene but did not need further treatment.

The road was blocked as emergency teams dealt with the incident. The Renault was hauled onto its side by fire crews while debris left scattered over the road was cleared.

Both cars suffered major damage in the crash.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: "We were called to Station Street, near the police station, to reports of a car overturned. One ambulance attended.

"A woman was treated for minor injuries and taken to Walsall Manor Hospital. A second patient was discharged at the scene."
