Walsall runners to go through the night to raise money for six-year-old cerebral palsy suffer
Four runners are putting their bodies on the line as they look to run for 12 hours non-stop to raise money for charity.
Craig Timmins, Greg Meacham and Philip box, from Walsall, are taking on the daunting challenge next Friday night (JULY 28) along with Birmingham's Matt Whitehorse.
Setting off from the Saddlers Arms in Bloxwich at 6pm, the group will run north along the A34 for 12 hours non-stop, hoping to run 56.2 miles - two marathons - in the process. Mr Timmins hopes the group will end up in Manchester by the time the clock hits 6am on the Saturday morning.
The four friends are hoping to raise around £4,000 for six-year-old Lillie Windsor, from Walsall, who suffers from severe cerebral palsy. The group want to raise £2,000 to get her treatment in the US to help with her quality of life, and a further £2,000 so she can visit a sensory room several times a week.
As well as the run, a family fun day featuring a bouncy castle and auction is also being held at the pub to raise money for Lillie. The event starts at 4.30pm and continues until the runners set off at 6.
Mr Timmins told the Express & Star: "I have been doing charity work for quite awhile. I did a 24-hour bike ride for Cancer Research previously and 1,000 body weight squats for Macmillan.
"My mum is friends with Lillie's mum Kim and she asked me if there was anything I could do to help. Me and the guys are kind of well known in the area so we know we had to push the boat out, it couldn't just be a 10k run or something like that.
"We are putting our bodies on the line but I can't wait now to get it done and raise some money for Lillie."
