Toys from the Anchor Estates’ appeal will go to Walsall Manor Hospital’s children’s department.

More than 20 presents have so far been donated by generous members of the public as part of the Aldridge firm’s first toy appeal.

The firm has also set-up a wish list so children can get specific toys, as well as generic ones. The appeal will run until December 16, when the toys will be handed over.

Debbie Dyer, director at the High Street-based shop, said: “We wanted to put something back into the community.

“Obviously there is a lot of people raising food parcels for the community in this horrible time during the pandemic.

“We decided that we would approach Walsall Manor Hospital to see if they would like us to do a toy collection, for the children who have to spend time in hospital over the Christmas period.

“They were really pleased to do that. We have started the ball rolling.

Fortunate

“We have now started a wish list to our Facebook appeal so we can get specific toys for them as well as general ones.

“It is the first time we have done it. I have been with the company for about three months now. This was something I wanted to do to help people who are less fortunate than ourselves at Christmas and do our bit for the community.”

Debbie said there had already been a great response to the appeal.

“People have dropped some stuff off at the shop, at my house and we have even had people directly posting through Amazon,” she added.

“Hopefully we will go to December 16 and pop them across to the hospital to do what they need to do with children’s ward.

“We have received two dozen presents at least so far.”

To donate, contact the estate agents via Facebook, call 01922 288800 or visit the shop at 28 High Street, Aldridge, Walsall, WS9 8LZ.
