The murals have been created on walls around Aldridge Shopping Centre by 2Sisters, a mural and graphic design company, with a range of vivid designs based on Aldridge and the surrounding area.

The work has been commissioned and paid for by LCP Properties, the owners of the shopping centre, with members of the community taking to social media to offer their views on the murals.

The majority of comments on social media have been positive, with one person saying how brilliant it was to see artists still working and brightening up the world.

There were a few mixed comments about the murals, with one post describing them as boring, while another person said they couldn't understand what the three mountains were.

The murals have divided opinion, with some people liking them and others calling them boring

Councillor for Aldridge Central and South Timothy Wilson had walked by the murals during a day in the village centre and said he quite liked them.

He said: "I think they brighten up the village and are examples of great artwork which should be commended.

"Yes, there are some people who may not like them or think the money could have been spent elsewhere, but I think they make the village look better.

"It's certainly better than looking at a blank brick wall and it's more welcome."

A range of different designs have been put up around the shopping centre

Councillor Wilson's fellow Aldridge Central and South colleague, Councillor John Murray, had seen the murals as they were being created and said he thought the work was very professional.

He said: "It has all been done very professionally, it wasn't like someone doing graffiti, and it was properly commissioned, so I think it's a nice touch.

"Anything that can brighten up the village and do it tastefully is a good idea and I think it's great that LCP were prepared to do something like this.

"It's a nice way to enhance the place and take it away from just being a bricks and mortar place."
