It was last year when the school put Chicago scripts on the desks of students, which saw each of them looking forward to putting their best foot forward to do justice to a tale that's loved by millions.
And now, after months of hard work, the Walsall students, teachers and crew members are ready to put everything together for four nights of what's bound to be a collection of electric performances for parents, locals and those further afield to enjoy.
Three more performances will follow the opening night, on February 12, 13 and 14, giving those hungry for a live show plenty of chances to catch the spectacle.
Adam Musa, 41, subject leader for Music and Performing Arts, said the cast have been 'incredible' this year with really strong performances from all involved and can't wait to let the show do the talking next month.
He said: "We have done a number of shows in the past and we usually look at the cast we have and match them up with roles in different shows.
"We were quite low on boys for this one so that narrowed it down to shows with less male roles, and Chicago was perfect.
"We have got some really strong performances this year, everyone has worked really hard, I'm very proud everyone involved.
"The students were really excited to do this one, they really jumped at it. We cast it last year and the buzz has been on-going since."
Students, teachers and volunteers have been tirelessly rehearing over the last six months, spending lunch breaks, weekends and evenings on stage making sure guests are treated to a top-shelf show.
Adam said: "We auditioned and cast last July, and since last September we have been rehearsing every Monday and Thursday for an hour and a half. We have all- day rehearsals on weekends and sometimes during lunch.
"The kids love it, they're passionate about it and that's really important, we want them to make memories they'll never forget.
"Seeing it all come together with everything that goes on behind the scenes is really special, we can't wait to show you what we've been working on all this time."
The shows are set to go ahead at Shire Oak Academy, with tickets costing just £6.50 each meaning a family of four can get a memory-making night out for less than £30 - and could well be watching performances from tomorrow's West End superstars.
