The Walsall-born Slade frontman is a huge Wolves supporter and has now invested in a team near Molineux, as the front-of-shirt sponsor for Bridgnorth Spartans Football Club’s under-7s Red team.
Noddy said he hoped the team could even end up providing some future Wolves stars.
He said: “I have done lots of things in my life but being on the front of a football shirt is a first and I love it! I’m really happy to support the next generation of players back in the Midlands where I’m from, and hopefully we’ll have some future Wolves players amongst them!”
Kelly Woodcock, co-chair of Bridgnorth Spartans, said: “Having such a huge star as Noddy sponsoring one of our teams is absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t believe it when I found out and we’re all blown away that he has chosen to support our club.
“We rely on the support of local people and businesses to be able to run the club and we couldn’t survive without it. We pride ourselves on being a truly inclusive community football club that provides football for all ages and abilities, from pre-schoolers to pensioners. We’re currently trying to raise funds to buy our own land for training and matches to make us even more sustainable.”
Noddy has sponsored the home kit, while Munch Pizzas, based at Bassa Villa in Bridgnorth, is sponsoring the away kit and has a history of supporting grass roots football.
Bridgnorth Spartans was established in 1987 and over 100 volunteers now run the club.
It boasts almost 500 members, with 24 competitive teams ranging from under-7s to under-18s, accessibility football for children with additional needs, a thriving soccer school for pre team children, a Ladies' and Men's first team, veterans team and Walking Football section.
