Derelict land on busy Willenhall junction set for 20 new homes
Boarded up derelict land on a prominent Willenhall junction could be transformed into a new housing scheme.
CNS Property has put forward a proposal to create two dozen new homes in the form of houses and apartments on the site at the corner of Clothier Street and Wednesfield Road.
If approved, the development would see a mixture of one, two and three bedroom homes created at the location.
There will be a total of 20 houses and four flats with 44 car parking spaces also included on the site.
Representatives for the developer said the scheme will bring a redundant parcel of land back into use and provide good, quality housing for the area.
Agents Design Studio Architects said: “The site is currently derelict and located in a residential zone. This makes the proposal for a new residential development an ideal choice.
“The shape of the site will require a careful design approach to fully utilise the space available and design within planning policy.
“The proposal will provide good-sized and well-designed dwelling houses addressing the demand for high quality housing in the (area).
“The proposal has been developed as a response to detailed contextual and environmental appraisals.
"Moreover, other local, regional and national development Frameworks have also been considered to ensure any proposal remains relevant to the local development strategy.
“We believe the massing and the external treatment compliment the existing local properties, whilst giving a unique form to the new development.
“We believe the scale of the proposed development is respectful to that of the neighbouring properties and has been designed delicately and tastefully, tying into the residential landscape.
“We feel that the proposed development will provide a new lease of life to the currently derelict site, through the provision of affordable housing, delivering a new high quality development to Willenhall.”
Walsall Council planning officers are expected to make a decision on the proposal in October.
