Tributes left to teenager killed in Walsall crash as injured men 'stable' in hospital
Tributes have been paid to a teenager killed in a crash as two people hurt in the collision remain seriously injured in hospital.
Around 50 bouquets of flowers have been left at the scene in Pelsall Lane, Rushall, where a 19-year-old man named locally as Arjun Gandham died on Friday evening.
Balloons, cards, candles and drinks have also been left in tribute to the teenager, who was one of seven people involved in the crash.
The driver of the Seat Leon that Arjun was a passenger in was still being treated in hospital on Sunday evening, along with a man who was in a parked car with his partner and nine-year-old daughter.
The two females were also taken to hospital but both have since been discharged.
Meanwhile the two surviving passengers from the Seat, aged 20 and 21, have been released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
Debris was left scattered across Pelsall Lane after the Seat crashed into the parked Chevrolet Trax at around 9pm.
Nearby residents, including off-duty nurses, rushed outside after hearing a loud bang but nothing could be done to save Arjun's life.
The initial scene was one of devastation as emergency services arrived to treat the young men inside the hatchback and the family in the SUV, which had hit a garden wall.
Edwin Venables was one of the first on the scene and described the road as "carnage, absolute carnage".
He added: "We're all shocked, but unfortunately, we're getting used to it because we've seen other incidents and accidents around here. I just feel for the family of the person who died."
By Sunday afternoon the crash site had turned into a shrine after friends, family and neighbours came to pay their respects.
Among the tributes were a Manchester United scarf, bottle of single-malt whisky and number plate which read 'Y44 ASG, 2001-2021'.
Meanwhile the teenage driver of the Seat and the man in the Chevrolet were said to be in a serious but stable condition.
The West Midlands Police investigation into the crash is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the force online or on 101.
