Developer Prembuild Midlands had put forward a proposal to Walsall Council planners and is looking to construct eight properties on the land on the corner of Wallows Lane and Broadway West.

They said the area was a car park back in the 1980s but has become overgrown with tress and bushes, which are in poor condition.

The company also said the site has suffered from anti-social behaviour problems in the form of fly-tipping.

If the proposal is given the go-ahead, the homes will be made up of seven four-bedroom properties and a single two-bedroom house.

Landscaping and work to improve the footpaths and widen the roads will also be carried out as part of the development. Electric gates will be fitted to each property while CCTV will be erected in the area.

In the application, Prembuild Midlands said: “The site was once a car park and has become vacant since the late 1980s.

Reopen

“Self seeding and low quality trees have, over the years, overrun the site, resulting in a poor secondary woodland being formed.

“Initial visual inspections shows evidence of anti-social behaviour with fly-tipping on the site.

“The proposal is for the erection of seven detached four-bedroom homes and one two-bedroom two-storey home.

“It is proposed within this application to reopen the entrance to Broadway West to form a better ingress to the development.

“Further highway and footpath widening to the southern part of Wallows Lane will be undertaken.

“The proposals hereby submitted create a light attractive development which will add value to surrounding homes both aesthetically and financially.

“The site is close to Walsall town centre and has excellent access to a variety of essential amenities.

“The closest primary school is located on Hillary Street and there is also a diverse selection of secondary schools and colleges within a short walking distance.”
