Comfort food given to Walsall Manor Hospital staff

A donation of comfort foods was given to Walsall Manor Hospital to help frontline workers.

Chocolate, crisps, drinks and biscuits were donated to the hospital by Euro Foods Group, facilitated by the Union of Muslim organisations (UMO).

Moulana Abdur Rahim Uddin, depot manager at Euro Foods Group said: "We recognise the pressures on ICU and other NHS staff helping to treat patients with coronavirus.

"It is important that as a community we show our appreciation for their dedication to save human lives."

Mohammed Arif, interim chairman of Union of Muslim organisations which facilitated the donation, said: "We are delighted to have facilitated this generous comfort food for the hard working NHS staff in these very testing times to bring a little smile on their faces to show that the Walsall people continue to remember them and appreciate their sacrifices during these waves of Covid-19."

Fundraising manager at the hospital, Georgie Westley, said: "The support received from the community is very much appreciated and means a lot to the staff."
