Farm land next to Valley Nurseries Garden Centre on Erdington Road, in Aldridge, will be developed into the new facility by Sutton Coldfield-based Little Paws Pet Services.

The new service will create two new part-time jobs, who will join two existing members of staff from the company, after Walsall Council planners granted permission.

Jessica Spencer, from Little Paws Pet Services, said the new business would enable people to leave their pet pooches for longer periods while they go to work.

Dogs in their care would be kept entertained and exercised as well as being able to hang out with other canines.

She said: "Our business already offers dog walking and home visiting services for dog owners to entertain and exercise their dogs or let them out for a toilet relief break whilst the client is at work.

Enrichment

"However sometimes our clients require their dogs to be cared for for longer periods of time during the day or don’t like leaving their dogs on their own whilst at work.

"A Dog Daycare offers dog owners the option to drop their dog off for the day and pick them back up once they finish work.

"We will keep the dogs entertained and exercised for them during the day in a safe fenced off outdoor field area to exercise them with many forms of enrichment.

"We would use a polytunnel to keep the dogs inside for nap time or as shelter during severe weather conditions.

"Some of our enrichment tasks would be snuggle and fuss time, ball play (fetch), hiking, running, bubble play, agility training, basic training, group games and socialisation, individual games, canine mental stimulation tasks and canine fitness, nap time mid-day and basic grooming and wash down at the end of the day."
