In the latest incident, a flat-bed truck ploughed into the front garden of a house in Barns Lane, Rushall, on the evening of October 4, causing damage to two cars.

Councillor Vera Waters said drivers were treating the road like "Brands Hatch” and said she has contacted local authority highways teams to take action.

Following the latest incident, Councillor Waters said the resident – who did not wish to be named – told her there had been five crashes since she moved on to the road in December last year.

Walsall Council said it was aware of issues on Barns Lane and will carry out a more detailed response to all those concerned.

Councillor Waters said: “Residents of Barns Lane have clearly had enough – they should not have to live in the shadow of having their property damaged or worse still their own lives placed at risk as a result of reckless, careless behaviour.

“Barns Lane is not Brands Hatch, and as residents look to the council and police to provide a solution I cannot emphasise enough the dangers of speeding vehicles and the unpredictability of its effects.

“I will do all I can to help residents and have requested the feasibility of installing speed cameras, ANPR and any other measure that lends itself to reducing the impact of speeding in this location.”

A spokeswoman for Walsall Council said: “We are aware of the recent incidents in Barns Lane and residents’ concerns regarding inappropriate speed.

“We have been contacted by several ward members and Wendy Morton MP on this matter.

“The council will provide a more detailed response to these concerns, but this will be consistent with scheme priorities established via the Annual Road Safety Review.”
