Volunteers plant trees in Walsall
Dozens of donated trees have been planted in Walsall.
A total of 35 trees were planted by the group of 60 people, which was organised by Walsall Voluntary Tree Wardens.
Students from Pelsall School, councillors, council workers and representatives from the Woodland Trust, which donated the trees, all turned out on Thursday morning to help plant the trees at the junction of Foundry Lane and Wolverhampton Road.
Jackie Cocken, chairwoman of Walsall volunteer tree wardens, said: "Our main aim is to care for the environment.
"The Woodland Trust donated the trees and we have had support from so many people.
"We've had schoolchildren, councillors, representatives from the Woodland Trust.
"They were planted along the verge in Pelsall and it will hopefully it will mute the traffic noise and clean the air.
"The council was brilliant, they came to support us and prepared the ground.
"There was about 60 people in total."
