Slot machine company given go ahead to take over Walsall town centre shop
A slot machine gambling company has hit the jackpot after plans to open a new centre in Walsall town centre were approved.
Pot Luck Gaming Centre Ltd have been granted permission to take over an empty former estate agents unit in Bridge Street after Walsall Council planners gave the green light to their proposals.
The last use was an unauthorised vape shop before that closed last year.
The company had applied to open a 24-hour business in the same building in September last year but the authority had refused their bid for change of use approval, saying they needed to submit a full planning application.
In their current application, Pot Luck has dropped the 24-hour opening hours plan that they originally proposed.
The business will now operate between 7am and midnight Monday to Friday, 8am to 3am on Saturday into Sunday and then 9am to 11pm on Sunday.
Agents The Planning Group Limited said: “The premises have been empty for approximately six months, with the last use being an apparently unauthorised vape shop.
“This application relates to the proposed change of use to a slot machine gaming centre.
“In the earlier application, it was indicated that a 24-hour operation was intended but the hours of proposed opening have been reduced.
“An active use for the building is required to ensure the property does not remain vacant and it has been on the market in excess of six months.
“It is intended to have a maximum of 25 slot machines.
“There will be no noise generated from the premises and it is intended that the finished layout will provide a quiet, relaxed, entertaining and social environment with an age restriction to adults only i.e. 18 plus and appropriate window displays/stickers will be provided, which will comply with the relevant licensing regulations.
“The building will see the employment of potentially three persons and refuse/waste facilities will remain as existing.”
