Man seriously injured in Walsall crash
A man has been seriously injured following a crash on a busy road in Walsall.
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash between a car and a van on Lichfield Road, in the Shelfield area, shortly before 7.30am on Wednesday.
The driver of the car was found with serious injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham.
Jordan Eggington, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "An ambulance attended the scene and found one man, the driver of the car, who had sustained serious injuries.
"He was given treatment on scene before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency treatment.”
The crash caused delays for motorists and those travelling on public transport – with Network West Midlands Buses being diverted while emergency services were at the scene.
The road was cleared and opened by 11.30am.
