The grand opening

The 14-storey Tameway Tower in Bridge Street, was originally built as office accommodation in the 1970s.

The building has been given a new lease of life after being transformed into 145 apartments with part of the ground floor occupied by offices.

Having been completed several weeks ahead of schedule, Tameway Plaza’s grand opening took place on Thursday in the presence of the Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Paul Bott and Arran Bailey, managing director of Tameway (Midlands).

Councillor Bott said: “The tower has needed a revamp for some time and we are absolutely delighted with the result. The transformation is incredible.

“The change from a dated office block into a contemporary apartment block has breathed new life into a building that’s been a landmark in Walsall for the past 40 years.

“We hope that the change of use from offices to apartments will create the kind of footfall that directly benefits this part of the town centre.”
