Inquest hears how friends tried to save life of murder victim Rezwan Ali
Friends of murder victim Rezwan Ali tried to save his life giving him CPR in the kitchen after violence erupted at a house party, a inquest heard.
According to an initial post-mortem the 19-year-old suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest around 1.45am on Sunday, January 14, when a fight broke out outside of 17 Willows Road in Chuckery.
Coroner Zafar Siddique opened the inquest into the death of the student from Bescot Crescent yesterday.
But he adjourned the hearing in light of the police investigation which has so far resulted in six people arrested on suspicion of murder.
All have been released on conditional bail until February 16.
Detective Inspector Ian Wilkins told Black Country Coroner's Court: "The investigation is no more than than two weeks old.
"There were a number of people at the party who are potential witnesses and enquiries to try and identify those are ongoing.
"It is a fast-paced enquiry still in its relative infancy."
Coroner Siddique said he could not allow the body to be released at this stage because he was considering whether to call for a second post-mortem.
The inquest was adjourned until March 15.
