Staff at The Entertainer on Digbeth High Street in the town turned up yesterday to find the shops front door had been been smashed.

This has forced the shop to close for the day.

Natalie Sheargold, store manager of The Entertainer in Walsall, said: “We were very sad to find the store broken into so soon after the wonderful Grand Opening, which had only happened last weekend.

"The value of damage they have caused is probably worth more than what they stole, although both are equally upsetting.

"The biggest disappointment by far is that they have damaged the lock so much we were unable to get the doors open this morning, which will have upset all of the children currently on half term, as they won’t have been able to visit the new store today.”

The shop, which has brought eight new jobs to the town, opened its doors for the first time on Saturday.
