Carnival raises cash for charities

This years Pelsall Carnival raised more than £3,300 for charities.

The carnival, which took place on July 8, saw cash raised for Midland Air Ambulance, Acorns Childrens Hospice and more.

This year marked the 45th annual instalment of the carnival and secretary Ian Rhhyderch thanked all of those who attended to help raise the money.

He said: "I am very pleased to report that, Pelsall Carnival 2017 was a huge success and it"s profit was £3350.00. #

"Being as it was a result of the generous people who attended the Carnival, it is vitally important that they will know how it was divided between 23 deserving groups."

A total of £300 was given to Midland Air Ambulance, Acorns Childrens Hospice and St Giles Hospice, while £200 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Meanwhile, £150 went to Pelsall Disabled Persons Organisation, Pelsall over 60's Club, Pelsall Musical Society, Pelsall Royal British Legion, Pelsall Scouts, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and the 1st Pelsall Scout Group.

£100 was given to the 425 Squadron Air Training Corps, Circle of Friends Shelfield, Walsall Schools Holiday Camp Trust, Pelsall Villa Colts Football Club, Pelsall Villa Football Club, Walsall Mayors Charity Fund, Alzheimers Society, Ryders Hayes Community School, Pelsall Village School, St Michaels Church School, The British Red Cross Association and Rushall Primary School.

The next event organised by the Pelsall Carnival Committee is a Christmas Sleigh Round around the streets of Pelsall on December 15 and 16.
