Walsall man, 27, charged with terrorism-related offence
A 27-year-old Walsall man has been charged with distributing a terrorist publication.
Christopher Jesus Soares, of Lysways Street, was arrested on Monday and charged today.
Soares was charged with disseminating a terrorist publication on December 1 last year, contrary to section two of the Terrorism Act 2006.
The charge states: "On December 1, 2016, disseminated a terrorist publication and at the time of doing so was reckless as to whether an effect of his conduct would be a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement, or would be the provision of assistance, to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, contrary to section 2 (1) and 2 (2) (d) of the Terrorism Act 2006."
Police confirmed that Soares' arrest and charge is not connected to the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.
He will appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday.
