A group of eight people took on the Tough Mudder Half Challenge at Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, setting a target of £3,000 they wanted to raise for the Heart Care Walsall charity.

They all successfully completed the notoriously difficult event, comprising of five miles of mud and 13 obstacles designed to test teamwork and toughness.

The team include Heart Care Walsall's four exercise physiologists Paul Boden, Ewen English, Lee Dawson and Ryan Hodgkinson.

They were joined by Mandy Higgins, the mother of a Heart Care Walsall patient, as well as Jim Mason, Richard Bagnall and Kate Hales, who work at Walsall business Arconic.

Rina Guddu, community fundraiser for Heart Care Walsall, said: "The team members had been training hard for months to get themselves fit for this tough challenge.

"They all wanted to complete event and not let their sponsors and the charity down.

"The team members have been fundraising hard and are making headway to reaching their target of £3000.

"They would like to thank all their sponsors especially patients at the Heart Care, Get Fit Cannock, AP Lifting Gear and Arconic.

"However, the team still need support.

"We at Heart Care are delighted as the money is very much needed to buy important exercise equipment in the patients’ gym which is where patient rehabilitation takes place.

"We would like to say a huge heart-felt thank you to the whole team for all their hard work in doing the challenge and raising funds for us.

"We are so lucky to have such wonderful people supporting us."
