Edith Howes, aged 93, welcomed her daughter Margaret Hollinshead, 70, granddaughter Debbie Roberts, 46, great granddaughter Chloe Freeman, 24 and great great grandson Harley Daniel, four days, into her home on Harrowby Place to mark the arrival of the newcomer.

It marks a significant milestone for the family, who can now proudly boast they have five generations living at the same time.

Debbie Roberts, Edith's granddaughter, said: "We are a close family, we all live in the Willenhall area so we are always in touch with each other.

"I am delighted that Nan got to see Harley, he has already been to see her twice in just a couple of days.

"She loves children and they get on really well, so everyone is delighted.

"We all love Harvey and although he doesn't understand how amazing it is that he is one of five generations of our family that are alive today, we hope he will have great memories from these times in the future."

Edith has lived in Harrowby Place all of her married life, giving birth to and raising nine children across two marriages while living at the house.

Her family now includes 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and Harvey, her great great grandchild.

Granddaughter Debbie said: "When you think about how many of us there is, it is quite amazing really.

"It is hard to keep track of how many there are, we always seem to be welcoming a new child.

"You would think that it would be difficult to stay in touch but we are all so family orientated that it is quite easy, family is everything to us.

"Nan is just children mad, she loves having them around and she is great with them.

"She is over the moon and I think quite overwhelmed that she has lived to see this day."

The good news is that there is another great great grandchild on the way this year.

Debbie said: "My eldest daughter is expecting my second grandchild in September, so I can't wait for that.

"Harley is going to have a little play mate, so it will be just as exciting for him as it is for all of us.

"Nan will get to go through this joy all over again at welcoming a new life and we will be sure that they pay her a visit."
