More than 25 calls were made to West Midlands Fire Service about the blaze at The Orange Tree in Walsall earlier today.
Firefighters from Walsall Central, Bloxwich and Willenhall attended.
It is believed the pub, which stands on the ring road and closed in 2009, is regularly used as a shelter by the homeless.
A fire service spokesman said: "We attended a fire in a derelict public house – which was in the first floor and roof space."
Crews were called at 11.45am. They left the scene around two hours later.
Fire crews are set to revisit the pub this afternoon as they investigate how the blaze started.
