Driver flees after crash with lamppost in Willenhall
A car smashed into a lamppost in the early hours of the morning with the driver fleeing the scene by the time emergency services arrived.
Firefighters were called to Owen Road in Willenhall around 1.15am this morning.
Two crews, one from Willenhall and another from Bilston, attended to make the scene safe.
The white hatchback was left severely damaged by the smash.
Willenhall Fire Station posted a picture of the aftermath on social media which showed the bumper falling off the front of the car which had seemingly come to rest against a tree, while one of the front wheels appeared to have been ripped off.
Behind the vehicle a long metal pole, which appeared to be the remains of the lamppost, lay across the road.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 1.15am to a RTC involving a vehicle in collision with a lamppost.
"The driver had left the scene prior to our arrival."
