A lorry smashed through the central reservation at around 10.30pm yesterday.

The crash closed the motorway between junctions 9 and 10 near Walsall.

As a result, two lanes remained closed southbound and one lane was shut northbound while repair works continued into the morning.

Warnings had been issued by Highways England telling drivers to expect long delays.

There were delays of around 20-30 minutes northbound with congestion back to around Spaghetti Junction.

This was also having a significant impact on the northbound M5 which is slow moving back as far as Halesowen.

The southbound M6 had delays of at least 10 minutes back to around junction 10A.

No one is believed to be injured in the crash, with West Midlands Ambulance Service confirming it was not sent out to attend.

However, the crash did cause considerable damage to the barriers.
