The roadworks will start on Monday

The junction on the A51 at Great Haywood, near Stafford, will provide access to the development.

The 20-week junction construction will include the introduction of passing places on Little Tixall Lane east and retaining walls on the new access road and Little Tixall Lane east. A new bus stop will be installed on the A51 south-east of the new junction.

In addition, a storage pond will be created between Little Tixall Lane east and crossing points for horse riders on the access road. No vehicles will be able to access Little Tixall Road west between the access road and Marlborough Close, where bollards will be installed. The junction works are being paid for by the housing developer.

For the work to be carried out safely, there will be temporary traffic signals at times on the A51 and Little Tixall Lane closed from Marlborough Close to the Coley Lane junction for pedestrians and vehicles.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said: “The creation of safe access to the new housing development in Great Haywood provides the opportunity to introduce safety measures and other improvements in the immediate area.

“These schemes will bring long-term benefits to the village and to motorists using the A51. We’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while this work is carried out.”
