Bellways is building 141 new homes at the site off Cannock Road, in Stafford, which has been left disused since 2010.

The development – known as Baswich Grange – will be made up of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes.

Diggers moved in to start clearing the 16-acre site in September 2018. Bellway bought the site from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for £15 million in 2017.

Progress on the housing scheme follows a fraught history for the site that has seen two developers withdrawing offers and concerns over increased traffic.

The site has been empty since February 2010 when the police force moved to a new purpose-built headquarters in Weston Road.
