Flooding forces closure of Stafford Wetherpoons pub for three months
A Wetherspoons pub in Stafford will be closed until May while repairs are carried out after being flooded.
The Picture House on Bridge Street flooded in October, and will not reopen until May 1, after a £800,000 refurbishment has been carried out.
The pub had not fully dried out until January.
The river is very high but the pub was not affected by flooding this week, just the beer garden.
A spokesman for Wetherspoons said: "Work is progressing well and the pub is set to open May 1, with recruitment to start in March for those who want to apply visit jdwetherspooncareers.co.uk
"We can confirm there has been no further flooding in the pub. The nearby river is extremely high, however, so the area in the beer garden did suffer from some flooding.
"It appears the recent drainage remedial works and the quick intervention of our contractor has helped, where other businesses in the area have, unfortunately, suffered further flooding."
