Vigil held honouring children killed in Stafford house fire one year on
A vigil was being held last night to remember the four children who died in a house fire one year ago.
Riley John Holt, aged eight, Keegan Jonathan Unitt, six, Tilly Rose Unitt, four, and Olly Unitt, three, all died in the fire on February 5 2019, while one other child survived.
A 25-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence following the fire have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Inquests into their deaths have been provisionally scheduled to take place on February 20, 2020, after being adjourned.
Staffordshire Police said in November a police update will be given in the New Year.
Residents met at the Oxleathers pub in Sundown Drive at 6.30pm and walked to the site where the house was in Sycamore Lane for prayers and a one minute silence.
The house has since been demolished.
Landlady of the Oxleathers Debbie Howe arranged the vigil.
She said: "I thought it would be nice for the community, it's so that everyone can remember the children.
"It's been a heartbreaking year."
