Campaign to raise £3k for flood-hit Stafford Cricket Club
A campaign has been launched to raise £3,000 to repair damage caused by flooding at Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club.
More than £490 has been raised for the premises to date, which will have to remain closed until at least next year while the repairs are carried out.
The club was hit by flooding on October 27 and more than 1ft of water covered the floors inside and out.
A fundraising page has now been launched by Katie Thomas which says: "On Sunday October 27 Stafford suffered from some severe flooding.
"Stafford Cricket & Hockey Club was hit badly with the clubhouse, car park and grass pitches all being flooded in over 1ft of water.
"This has caused a significant amount of damage meaning the clubhouse is likely to remain closed until at least the New Year whilst repairs are undertaken.
"Whilst the overall water level has dropped, a significant amount of standing water remains in the car park and on the grass pitches.
"It will take time and money to get the club back to its former glory but we hope that with the support of the local community we can pull together and make it happen!
"If you can donate anything at all to help we would be forever grateful."
