Footpath set to remain closed for 'foreseeable future' after man's death
A footpath is set to remain closed "for the foreseeable future" following the death of a man who was struck by a fallen tree.
The Isabel Trail off Eccleshall Road, Stafford, has been closed since Thursday morning following the incident.
The man, 58, was found in a cardiac arrest but died at the scene near to Eccleshall Road Cemetery.
Staffordshire County Council took the decision to close the footpath. An investigation has been launched into how the tree fell.
Stafford North county councillor Jonathan Price said: "The footpath will be closed for the foreseeable future.
"We have to make sure that the scene is safe and subsequently remove the tree.
"Residents have been trying to access the footpath so we have had to put barriers in place."
