Young people rehearsing for performance in Stafford
More than 60 young people are rehearsing for their latest performance.
Following StagedRight Stafford's success with “Just So” and last year “The Wiz”, their third production is “Seussical”, a musical based on the works of Dr Seuss.
The show features many colourful characters from Dr Seuss books such as “The Cat in the Hat”, “Getrude McFuzz” and “The Grinch”. Ahead of World Book Day, in preparation for the show the cast have been using the original books for inspiration.
Nick Earnshaw, who is the director of StagedRight Stafford, said: "This is a great opportunity for young people to get to know the books of Dr Seuss. His characters are so bright and bold.
"He wanted to teach young people to read but in a way that captivated the reader both young and old. His books champion being original with your thinking, and in encouraging imagination.
"This makes it perfect for StagedRight Stafford as we strive to build confidence in our students through rehearsal and performance. The musical is also fun, anarchic and has plenty of catchy tunes.”
The show is mainly based on the story “Horton Hears A Who”, and follows the elephant Horton as he tries to save the tiny planet of Who by keeping it safe on a clover. On the way he meets up with other characters from the Seuss Universe, all watched over by the Cat in The Hat.
The show “Seussical” will be performed on July 18 to 20 at 7.30pm, with a matinee on July 20 at 2.30pm.
