£1 million of World Cup mowers shipped from Stafford to Russia
A Staffordshire lawnmower company has ensured English machinery will play a key role throughout the World Cup even if the players are unlikely to go the distance.
Allett Mowers have shown they're a cut above the rest as eight of the World Cup venues in Russia, including thirteen official training grounds, have opted to use their mowers.
This means their specially designed stadium mowers will be kicking up the turf and preparing the pitches before England's games against Tunisia in Volgograd, and Belgium in Kaliningrad.
Dave Allen from the company, based in Hixon near Stafford, said Allett Mowers mowers had been picked due to their ease of use and high performance, which makes them ideal for sports turf surfaces.
Over the last 18 months more than £1 million of machinery has been shipped to Russia and plans are already in place for a similar contract at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The main mowers featuring in Russia are the Allet C34, the Regal 36, Buffalo 34 and RM34 models, with the Regal regarded as the ultimate mower for sports grounds by groundsmen around the world, according to Allett.
Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-don, Ekaterinburg and Saransk have each ordered five of Allett's mowers, and Sochi Fisht has ordered a whopping ten machines.
But it's the training grounds who've requested the majority of the grass cutters with Allett supplying 44 mowers to help the players practice on pristine pitches.
Dave said: "In all, this is a major coup for Allett Mowers."
