The annual Staffs Fest made its return to the borough over the Bank Holiday, with organisers deeming the event such a success they have already put early bird tickets for next year on sale.

The festival, held at Lower Drayton Farm in Penkridge gave bands from across the region their chance to shine on the big stage to a music loving crowd, with plenty of variety on offer for punters.

Hundreds of people braved the temperamental weather to enjoy live performances from the likes of The Rainbreakers, Voodoo Stone, The Gabbidon Band and Stuart Woolfenden.

Stuart, a 19 year old acoustic guitarist from Redditch, said: "I had a great time at Staffs Fest, both as a visitor and a performer.

"My show on Sunday brought in a nice crowd who were really responsive but I also enjoyed just going around the festival with my mom and dad, it was a nice atmosphere all weekend."

Staffs Fest is now in its third year at the farm, where it was moved from its traditional September slot to May in order to take advantage of the spring weather.

After seven months of preparation to get this years Staffs Fest ready, organiser Lorraine Conkey, from Stafford, has already turned her attention to next year.

She said: "I want to thank all of the people along the way who helped make the festival happen, your efforts are really appreciated and valued.

"When you put your heart and soul into an event its fantastic when you have the support of a great team around you.

"I would also like to give massive respect to all the bands that gave such impressive performances, without you guys there is no festival.

"I am planning for next year already so there will be a full 12 months planning this time."

Tickets are already on sale for Staffs Fest 2018 with a 20 per cent price reduction, meaning entry for the weekend for an adult is £32 rather than £40.

Children under the age of 16 can go for free with a paying adult.
